Every year the Tulane Naval ROTC battalion hosts one of the largest drill meets in the nation. Traditionally held on the Friday before Fat Tuesday, the battalion faces one of its most difficult tasks all year–organizing, running, and accounting for the 30+ universities from across the nation that elect to attend.
The drill meet consists of Platoon Inspection, Platoon Armed Basic Drill, Squad Basic Drill, Color Guard, Platoon Exhibition, and Individual Exhibition. The events will be judged by senior enlisted Marines whose thorough knowledge of the drill manual and drill competitions make them more than up to the task.
Tulane’s own Naval ROTC battalion assists by volunteering many hours as guides to the schools, and as assistants to the OICs, to ensure that all of the visiting schools have a smooth and enjoyable time while they compete.
