Tulane NROTC Awards Ceremony 2021
The Tulane Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps Awards Ceremony was held on April 21, 2021.
Awards and Recipients
1. THE DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION NATIONAL DEFENSE ROTC AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 4/C LaPata
This award is presented to a MIDN who has demonstrated loyalty, patriotism, dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability, and a patriotic understanding of the importance of ROTC training.
2. THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE WORLD WARS AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 4/C Lord
This award and medal are presented to the 4/C MIDN who has demonstrated military excellence for the 2020-2021 academic year.
3. THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF DAUGHTERS OF THE FOUNDERS AND PATRIOTS OF AMERICA AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 3/C Fitzgerald
This award and medal are presented to the 3/C midshipman who has exhibited excellent patriotism and service to country.
4. THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE WORLD WARS AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 3/C Goldenberg
This award and medal are presented to the 3/C midshipman who has demonstrated military excellence for the 2020-2021 academic year.
5. THE USAA SPIRIT AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 3/C Salazar
This award is presented to the midshipman who best displays
the traits and characteristics that embody the spirit of service.
6. THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE WORLD WARS AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 2/C Florentino
This award and medal are presented to the 2/C midshipman who has demonstrated military excellence for the 2020-2021 academic year.
7. AMERICAN VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS ROTC AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 2/C Hoven
This medal and award are presented in special recognition of outstanding achievement and exceptional leadership ability.
8. GEORGE WASHINGTON CHAPTER, NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 2/C McCollum
This award and medal are presented to a 2/C MIDN who distinguished himself by his leadership, academic proficiency, and keen interest in the NROTC unit.
9. THE CHALMETTE CHAPTER, NATIONAL SOCIETY UNITED STATES DAUGHTERS OF 1812 ROTC MEDAL
Presented to: MIDN 2/C Zupkus
This award recognizes a junior who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, military discipline, dependability, patriotism, and upright character, exemplifying the ideals upon which our nation was founded.
10. NATIONAL SUBMARINE LEAGUE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Edler
This award is presented to a 1/C MIDN in recognition of
superior academic aptitude, a strong desire to pursue a career in submarine warfare, and is a role model to inspire others to strive for Submarine Warfare.
11. GREATER NEW ORLEANS COUNCIL OF THE NAVY LEAGUE, CAPTAIN JOSEPH T. KATZ AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Edler
This sword is awarded to an outstanding senior for exceptional achievement in leadership, scholarship, character, and professionalism.
12. THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE WORLD WARS AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Goldkamp
This award and coin are presented to the 1/C midshipman who has demonstrated military excellence for the 2020-2021 academic year.
13. COMMODORE THOMAS J. LUPO AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Goldkamp
This sword is awarded to the Navy option senior with the highest officer potential in memory of their fallen comrades.
14. MARINE CORPS ASSOCIATION AWARD OF MERIT
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Hargis
The Marine Corps Association award is presented to the Marine option graduate in recognition of high endeavor, dedication to duty, and superior accomplishment.
15. CLUVERIUS CUP
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Harris
This is awarded to a 1/C MIDN who demonstrated the highest military character throughout their NROTC participation. The trophy is displayed inside the Navy Building with her name engraved on it.
16. THE NAVAL ORDER OF THE UNITED STATES AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Harris
This award is presented to the senior who achieves the highest ranking in the Surface Warfare specialty.
17. THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS DISTINGUISHED MIDSHIPMAN AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Harris
Presented to the senior midshipman having met the highest standards of leadership, academic excellence, and military performance.
18. THE AMERICAN LEGION AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Henderson
This award is presented to the senior who demonstrated an exemplary degree of military excellence.
19. THE CAPTAIN J. W. MCCARTER, JR. AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Jablonski
This sword is awarded to an outstanding NROTC athlete who demonstrated exceptional potential for military leadership.
20. TULANE PRESIDENT’S CUP
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Kempf
The president’s cup is presented on behalf of the president of Tulane University to the NROTC senior excelling in academics, leadership and character. The trophy is displayed inside the Navy Building with his name engraved on it.
21. THE GENERAL ROBERT H. BARROW, USMC AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Kempf
This award is sponsored by the Tulane NROTC Alumni Association. It is presented to the 1/C Marine option MIDN who excels in academics and leadership. Additionally, a plaque is displayed inside the Navy Building with MIDN Kempf’s name engraved on it.
22. LCDR MICHAEL D. CHALFANT MEMORIAL SWORD AVIATION AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C O’Keefe
This sword is awarded to the 1/C MIDN, selected as a student naval aviator, who exemplifies the core values of integrity, fortitude, and service above self, while displaying outstanding academic achievement, superior military bearing, and exceptional leadership and physical fitness.
23. ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MAMELUKE AWARD
Presented to: MIDN 1/C Rumps
Presented to the senior Marine Option Midshipman who has excelled in academics, leadership, and military bearing.
24. TULANE NROTC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WINTLE AWARD
Presented to: Ensign Drury
The Wintle Award is awarded by the Tulane NROTC Alumni Association and recognizes the graduating senior who exemplifies the characteristics of the Navy. Additionally, a plaque is displayed inside the Navy Building with Ensign Drury’sname engraved on it. This award was presented at the December 2020 Commissioning.
