Friday Social

The Naval Reserve Officer Training Command at Tulane University held its annual meeting and social November 12 and November 13, 2021.  Friday’s festivities were a social and reunion held at the Navy Building.  The many gathered on the drill deck enjoyed gracious company and memories as well as delicious food and drink.  Saturday’s goings-on included the annual meeting, homecoming reunion, and football tailgate.  The  annual meeting followed the agenda of business, updates, and speaker.  The general business gave overviews of the Association by the Secretary, Treasurer, and President. The Association continues its mission, is solvent, and the new board was elected.   The Professor of Naval Science gave his presentation of the current state of the unit.  It included many highlights achieved by the staff and midshipmen.  The Unit won the prestigious Department of Defense ROTC Partnership Excellence Award for 2019-2020, GySgt. Doyon was recognized as the AMOI of the Year for the Southeast Region for 2020, and all 1/C midshipmen from the Class of 2021 got their first choice of service billet.  Our esteemed speaker this year was The Honorable Judge Barry Ashe (Class of 1978).  He spoke on From Wardroom to Courtroom.  He gave three vignettes of how his time at Tulane NROTC and in the Navy has positively affected how he understood and was able to address various times in his life and career.  After the meeting adjourned, all alums were invited to a tailgate on the UC Quad sponsored by your Alumni Association.
